Immortal Path Preview 4
30 April, 2010
  • In the 4th installment of our preview of Immortality Paths, we take a look at the 2 paths unique to the Mountain Kingdoms.

    Primal
The connection with the land has always been strong amongst those in the Mountain Kingdoms, whether it be a connection to the mountains, forest, or valleys they all call home.  The Primal takes this one step further, pledging themselves to the land's service in exchange for being able to draw from its near limitless power.

The Primal is able to tap into this power to improve their combat abilities drastically, randomly bestowing extra virtual levels when determining base success chance, meaning they can fight against powerful monsters with greater ease.  And just in case the fights don't go as well as planned, they will occasionally conjure a helpful nymph, who has her own special brand of helping magic to help soothe those wounds after a battle.  Now that's a health care plan we should all be so lucky to have!

    Elemental
While the Primal is one with the land, the Elemental is one OF the land, with a physical form growing steadily in size and potency as they gain power, until they eventually resemble a creature made of the toughest stone known!  The invulnerability of their rock-like skin turns them into an unstoppable juggernaught, ready to stomp and smash their way through any battlefield!

Their abilities in combat are considerable indeed with a large boost to AR and DR, and the ability to shrug off wounds that would normally fell a dragon.  Wielding fists and feet made of stone makes them able to smush enemies that dare stand in their way, causing massive wounds that should send all those boss monsters running for the hills!

    Q&A
Time for another round of questions and answers from our forums. Remember, if you have questions, feel free to jump in and ask! We pick the best ones to answer each time from our userbase.

    Q&A 1 - Can I have multiple immortal paths?
You're limited to a single immortal path, which is selected the first time you remort. Each time you remort, you attain a higher immortal rank, in that same path.

Q&A 2 - How do the Immortal Scoreboards work?
Unlike normal high score lists which just compare your xp total, the Immortal high scores factor in a few things into the process to derive a score. Your immortal rank will play a large factor in this, so fear not, even if you remort a few times, you'll find yourself advancing up the score board ever faster as those with a higher immortal rank will gain more 'points' for each bit of XP.  The exact formulas are, like most of DT, a secret, but you should be able to reverse engineer them if you are interested as usual.

We're still undecided about the birthrank side of things. We'll let you know when we make our final decision.

    Q&A 3 - When can I remort?
You'll be able to once you reach around level 55-60 or so, however should you wish to, you can keep pushing your way up the levels and gain a large increase of IMP on each 5th level past that point (60, 65, 70, etc).  These bonus levels will steadily increase your IMP total, which carries over from remort to remort.  Once you purchase those immortal powers, they're with your character forever!
