Immortal Path Preview 2
19 April, 2010
  • In part 2 of our Immortal Path's preview, we show our 2 paths exclusive to the Deadlands.  Each realm will have its own 2 paths in addition to the ones common to all realms.

    Shadelord
The Shadelord embraces the power of the Shadow Realm, using it to fuel their power and transcend the mortal bonds.  They become creatures of nightmare made real, and learn to manipulate the flow of energy released in others death to their advantage.

They can siphon death energy to heal their wounds, eventually even going beyond their normal maximum, as well as conjuring shadelings which reduce opponents AR and DR during a battle from time to time.

    Lich
The Lich form the political elite of the Deadlands, forsaking their mortality with arcane rituals, taking their obsession and mastery over death one step even further than the common citizen of the Deadlands.

The powers of the Lich lay in their ability to reform after defeat, as though it never happened, often ignoring any death penalty completely (and occasionally reforming instantly in battle to continue fighting!), as well as a gradually building power to instantly snuff out the life force of an enemy, the longer any battle continues.

    Q and A
After having a look through our forums, there were also a few questions that players had about how a few things work with the remorts.  We'll answer a few each update, so feel free to keep asking in the forums and we'll consolidate answers here.

    Question 1 - Advantages
Players who remort will keep all advantages purchased, carrying them over to their new characters. We're still looking at the best way to handle named items for now, but rest assured you'll be taken care of either way.

    Question 2 - Normal Gear
Your normal gear will be reset back to starting equipment. We understand that some players may not be happy about this, but accumulating gear along the way is a major part of the game, and the primary use of gold apart from wenches, ale and gambling.  We hope you all see the big picture on this one.

Question 3 - Why keep leveling when you could remort?
After a certain level, players will accumulate what we call IMP (Immortal Points).  These IMP are what are used to fuel the purchase of immortal skills and immortal powers.  Players who have gone to the trouble to advance further than the bare minimum to remort will find themselves earning an escalating amount of IMP for their efforts.

Players who've already advanced past level 50 will be retroactively granted the IMP they would have otherwise earned, so fear not high level players! It was not for nothing! The trials of the past will bring considerable rewards in the form of extra upgrade points to allocate as you see fit.

Well, that's it for now. Look for more updates in the next few weeks!
